We stayed at Kalmar for a family wedding. As a wedding venue, it's wonderful! As a resort, not so much. Our efficiancy room was very small and dated. The lamps were rusty, sheets and bath towels were yellowed, hair in the shower, yellowed …

Love Kalmar - have been staying here for years. It's a charming, low key place on the beach - with a great pool. It's not fancy, it's a little dated - but a special, fall-in-love with place. Very clean, comfy. Great owners. Love it here!

Great beach access. Nice, convenient location. Our "deluxe" cottage was dated at best and the wifi is terrible. Pool is not heated but the kids had fun in it. Be sure to request maid service daily else they only come randomly and seem to pick and choose if they will make the beds or remove the garbage. When asked specifically, however, they did a great job. All staff were friendly and helpful. Overall, it was good and we will visit again.

My friend had her wedding there over the weekend! Such a special iconic American place. The people that run it are super accommodating, kind and funny. Everything was perfect. Felt like summer camp for us all!

Absolutely BEAUTIFUL wedding venue. We had the most breathtaking wedding at Kalmar, with our tent on the sand. There were a lot of logistics to keep in line, so I definitely recommend a planner/coordinator to help (Olivia from Brent Events is INCREDIBLE). David and the staff were very nice, and quite helpful during the wedding weekend. It was a little bit of a pain for guests to book cottages (and they are a little rustic) but overall it was the absolute best weekend!

Overall a great place. We were in the main house In a King suite which slept up to 5. One issue we had was that everyone that came in and out of the main house slammed the doors over and over and over at all hours of the night/morning waking our kids up. However, my father stayed in one of the 2 bedroom cottages which they loved, as this was thier second year. The owners 2 doggos were the stars of the show, bring some yummy treats!! Pool was in great condition, super close to the shore, great place for morning yoga or shell collecting for the kids. Volleyball net and fire pit got tons of use, as did the green lawn in the center of the cottages. Would return to stay another year, just not in the main house.

They put us as a family of 4 in the room with only 1 queen bed, with no sofa or extra space to sleep even tough it says it would be. Room was dirty and old, with no iron or hair dryer. We took this hotel as it says it's close to the beach, but then when you come on the beach it is so dirty with old dried up sea grass. Not family or kids friendly. Any time we came to the office to talk to somebody, it was looked noone was there to help us. We had to check out 2 days earlier and had to book another hotel. We are very disappointed.

My husband and I stayed at the Kalmar village multiple times now and had a great experience on all occasions we will be back! Highly recommended, this is a hidden Gem!
